Latest Trojan Virus Blocked by Total Mail Defense, But Not the Competition
New Trojan virus with malicious executable masquerading as IE7 flooding the Internet

BURBANK, Calif. – March 30, 2007 — Internet Defense Technologies (IDT), a provider of Internet security solutions, announced today a warning against the latest form of Trojan virus.

The company’s CTO, Ron Edison, stated, “I found out that there is a new Trojan going around that is spreading via email. The email is apparently allowed through by competitors such as Postini with a link to a malicious executable masquerading as IE7. This was apparently being discussed on the Postini newsgroup. When I checked this out, I found out these messages are not even making it into the Total Mail Defense message queue. Our logs show many attempts and rejection based on various different criteria. That means these messages never even got to the point where they would be analyzed for spam and mal-ware, they were rejected at the front end on our first layer of defense.”

The company added that this week is showing a very high level of spam and virus traffic. The company is currently reporting a full 99% of email traffic being rejected by Total Mail Defense as spam or virus laden.
